Hey There

I'm Ben, the owner and operator of Tour South. I wear many hats here: photographer, tour guide, driver, cleaner, marketer, and chef—just to name a few!

My journey with Australia began in 2015 when I visited as a student and traveler. I fell in love with this incredible land, especially South Australia. After exploring many places across the country, I decided to start Tour South in September 2020. My goal is to share my favorite spots and ensure everyone experiences the magic of this region just as I have.

Welcome to Tour South! Let's explore the wonders of South Australia together.

About Me & Tour South

My journey with South Australia began in 2017 when I traveled to Port Lincoln for a shark cage diving experience with Great White Sharks. As a wildlife photographer, encountering these majestic creatures was a lifelong dream. This adventure ignited a deep love for the Eyre Peninsula, its stunning nature, vibrant wildlife, and welcoming community. I kept returning, each visit deepening my connection to this remarkable region. In 2019, I took a significant step into the tourism industry by joining a shark cage diving company as a marketing manager.

Early 2020 brought unexpected challenges as the world shut down due to the pandemic, putting my career on hold. During this period, I took a hard look at my passions and what truly drives me. It became clear that I loved nature, wildlife, off-roading, and sharing stories with people. This realization sparked the idea of becoming a tour operator. I dedicated six months to obtaining the necessary licenses, insurance, and accreditations, and on September 1, 2020, Tour South welcomed its first customers. As domestic tourism began to recover, I balanced growing my new business while continuing my marketing role with the shark cage diving company until mid-2021.

Between 2020 and 2023, as a start-up, Tour South wasn't overly busy, allowing me to embark on incredible journeys across Australia. I traveled from Port Lincoln through the Red Centre, Kakadu National Park, the Kimberley region, Exmouth, Perth, and back home. I also spent two months in Tasmania, including an 8-day solo hike on the Overland Track in winter. These adventures have been invaluable, deepening my understanding and appreciation of Australia's diverse landscapes.

Traveling is more than a passion for me; it's a lifelong pursuit. I've hiked to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal, explored Tibet, solo traveled New Zealand's South Island and Thailand, and in 2024, I visited Komodo Island to film the endangered Komodo Dragon. Each journey enriches my life and fuels my desire to share these incredible experiences with others through Tour South.

Every day, I am motivated by the beauty of nature and the joy of sharing it with others. I look forward to welcoming you to Tour South and guiding you through the wonders of South Australia. Let's create unforgettable memories together.
